Thaïs Bass-Moore fell in love with acting at the tender age of 8 when she saw her mother, who was the epitome of an older sweet church lady, play a prostitute in a church play and killed the part. She thought if my mom can completely become someone else on stage, I want to do that! Thaïs, a native of Los Angeles, CA, received her bachelors from UCLA in African American Studies & English and her masters from the University of Texas at Austin in Human Dimensions of Organizations. She has studied fine arts & acting at several institutions nationwide and served as founder and director of the Black Theatre Company of Baton Rouge where she produced many of her own works. She is co-founder and director of the Fearless Leadership Institute at The University of Texas at Austin, a holistic development program serving Black and Brown undergraduate women. She is the author of A Syllabus for Black Women: 110 Life Lessons for Sistahs in College and co-founder of The FLI Girls Podcast. She lives in Round Rock, TX with her husband and family. Because of her passion for acting and a strong desire to provide community theatre in Austin she is relaunching the Austin Black Theatre Company. |
